Staff Reporter: Sacred Heart University faculty member, Mahfuja Malik, associate professor of accounting, has attained recognition on Poets&Quants’ list of “Top 50 Undergraduate Professors” for 2021. More than 1,000 nominees vied for a spot on the list.
Poets&Quants is an online source of business education news and detailed rankings of master of business administration (MBA) programs worldwide.
Malik joined the faculty at SHU’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) in 2014 as assistant professor of accounting. She is director of the master’s degree program in accounting, in addition to her current faculty position. She earned her bachelor of business administration degree in finance and banking and her MBA in finance from the University of Dhaka in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Additionally, Malik earned a master’s degree in international finance at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, and a doctorate in accounting from Boston University in Boston, MA.
“It is an incredible honor for me to be selected as one of Poets&Quants’ 50 best undergraduate professors for 2021. I consider myself fortunate to be an educator and to teach future business leaders at Sacred Heart University,” Malik said.
To be considered for the Poets&Quants’ list, a professor must be a full-time faculty member of a business school and may be nominated by students, faculty, alumni or administrators. Successful nominees typically have a unique teaching style, remarkable impact on students, a noteworthy influence on business practices, public policy or business trends and have made impactful contributions to their respective fields.
“It was an honor to nominate Professor Malik for the Poets&Quants “Top 50 Business School Undergraduate Professors” in the country list,” said Khawaja Mamun, program director and associate professor of economics. “She has made a significant impact on many students and also made noteworthy scholarly contributions in the accounting literature. This recognition is only a testament to her achievements.”
