Ema Alice: In the US there has been mixed reaction to the ‘Tarique Rahman consolation award’ of 3 BNP leaders. In the US, instead of a new committee, only 3 out of hundreds of BNP activists were given the Tarique Rahman Santana award by inclusion in the central committee. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman calmed the demand of a new committee for a long time by awarding the United States consolation award to 3 people.
The top six leaders of the United States BNP are respectively former general secretary of the United States BNP and convener of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee Zillur Rahman Zillu, former senior vice president of BNP and former central international affairs secretary Gias Ahmed, member secretary of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee of Independence Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton, former treasurer of BNP Jasim Bhuiyan, Muktijoddha party president Alhaj Babar Uddin and BNP leader Mosharraf Hossain Sabuj held a meeting with BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in London on March 1. In the meeting, they informed the Acting Chairman about various party matters including the formation of the committee of the United States BNP. It is said that Tarique Rahman listened to them attentively and assured to form a committee with the opinion of the central leaders of Dhaka. The three visiting leaders were included in the Central Committee after the meeting in London. They are Zillur Rahman Zillu, Gias Ahmed and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton. They have reportedly been nominated as members of the party’s national executive committee. Earlier on February 22, United States Juba Dal general secretary Abu Sayed Ahmed was nominated as joint general secretary of international affairs secretary and Elias Khan as co-international affairs secretary in the affiliated committee of the central youth party.

The US BNP leaders and workers are very excited because the five leaders have been placed in the central BNP and Jubo Dal. After many years, they hope that the BNP committee of BNP will be formed in the United States. According to activists, the inclusion of these five leaders in the central committee is an indication of the formation of the committee of the United States BNP. The elected leaders are floating in the tide of greetings and congratulations.
On the other hand, there has been a mixed reaction among the leaders and activists of a section of BNP in the United States regarding the visit of the six leaders to London.
On February 28, they held a meeting at the Nabanna restaurant in Jackson Heights expressing their immediate anger about this visit to London. They said that those six leaders did not go to London as representatives of the BNP, they went for personal work. Their demand to the party’s standing committee and policy-making leaders, including Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, is to consider the attitudes and opinions of the field-level leaders and activists before taking any decision regarding the US BNP.
This meeting was presided over by the former vice-president of the US BNP, Advocate Jamal Ahmed Jani. Under the direction of former joint general secretary Kazi Azam, former general secretary of US BNP Mustafa Kamal Pasha Babul, former vice president of United States BNP Emdadul Haque Kamal, Noor Mohammad,  Abul Kashem, joint general secretary Md. Anwarul Islam, Joint General Secretary Feroz Ahmed, Shah Alam etc. The founder president of the United States BNP on the phone. Mojibur Rahman Majumdar and former president Abdul Latif Samrat expressed strong anger at the six leaders’ visit to London.
