Noman Sabit: A mass rally was held in New York of the United States on the demand of the division called Cumilla. The rally was held at New York’s Jackson Heights Navanna Party Hall with the participation of expatriate leaders from all parties on Monday (July 3) evening local time.
The meeting chaired by convener of Cumilla Division Implementation Committee in USA Sarwar Khan Babu and moderated by member secretary of the committee journalist SM Solaiman. More than a hundred leaders of all parties living in New York expressed their views and demanded a division called Cumilla.
Speakers including the president said in one sentence the only strong role for the division called Cumilla is the member of parliament of Cumilla Sadar Constituency, heroic freedom fighter Haji Akam Bahar Uddin Bahar. In the National Parliament, he repeatedly demanded the division called Cumilla. But sadly, several important ministers and other members of Parliament of Greater Cumilla are not saying anything about this. For the past 15 years, Haji Bahar has been vocal in advocating for demands in and outside Parliament. That’s just what we saw on live television. He also argued with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for 10 minutes about the demand of Cumilla division. Similarly, if all the ministers and MPs of the district or the political leaders of all the parties in Cumilla raised their demands, the division called Cumilla would have been implemented long ago. US expats should keep in touch with their local MPs and national leaders about this demand.
The speaker said, if the residents of greater Cumilla are united, the government will definitely give the division in the name of Cumilla. Cumilla Division Implementation Committee, United States announced more programs in the future including autographs, mass signatures, human bonds.

Besides, the leaders of other districts also participated in the rally in support of the claim of division called Cumilla.
