US Awami League held an extended meeting

Two separate meetings of the US Awami League have been held to counter the allegations. The rebel members of the party held an emergency meeting last Saturday (April 13) in the name of the executive committee, highlighting various irregularities including financial corruption in the name of the party’s committee, trade and rank-and-file. The next day, Sunday (April 14), the US Awami League held an extended meeting. When the extended meeting was announced about two weeks ago, the rebel members hurriedly called an emergency meeting on Saturday after getting the news. In this meeting, the leaders involved in financial corruption in the name of party committee, trade and rank and file expressed their anger and called for the formation of a new committee immediately.
The meeting held at a restaurant party hall in Jackson Heights, New York was presided over by freedom fighter M Fazlur Rahman, who claimed the position of senior vice president of the organization.
With a request to Bangladesh Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, freedom fighter M Fazlur Rahman, who claimed the position of senior vice president, said that the leaders and activists of the party are expecting the approval of the new committee through the US Awami League conference when they are in New York to attend the United Nations General Session next September.
He said, This urgent meeting has been organized against outgoing committee president Dr. Siddiqur Rahman’s injustice, lies and corruption. This meeting is a protest meeting to trade in the name of committee and inclusion in the committee. Siddique is lying continuously day after day for the sake of our high command. He complained that he is still selling positions. At that time, it was mentioned that the meeting was held with the consent of 95 percent of the members of the executive committee.
He also said that the president Siddiqur Rahman has run the party for the last 13 years in an autocratic manner. He does not care about the constitution. Constant lies are his tools. Awami League and its affiliates have been dissolved. Only a handful of 5/7 people including his wife are with him. In this situation, he called the meeting again to fill the vacancy in the name of extended meeting. The constitution does not give him any power to fill any position in the committee without the approval of the majority of the members of the executive committee. M. Fazlur Rahman strongly condemned such activities and said that his post-trade has not been legalized in the past and will not be legalized this time either. Let us collectively send a resolution with the opinion of 95 members of the committee to the leader Sheikh Hasina and demand a new committee through the conference.

Fazlur Rahman said, we are committed today. Unitedly, we will send our demands in the form of a resolution to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina so that a new committee is formed by next September. We will accept whoever the leader nominated as president and general secretary and work together. He said many could not attend the meeting today due to post-Eid family programs and Pohela Boishakh, but all expressed solidarity through telephone.
