Noman Sabit: The alleged president of the United States Awami League (expired committee) Dr. Siddiqur Rahman did a ‘disgraceful hat trick’. He was extremely disgraced three times in front of the leader of the central committee regarding the exchange of party posts. The latest incident happened at the meeting of the California State Awami League. This incident took place in front of Barrister Biplab Barua, Office Secretary of the Central Committee, during the party meeting in California on April 27.
In that meeting, the vice-president (expired committee) of Awami League, M Fazlur Rahman, went to protest against the non-organizational activities and stoppage of trade by rank and file. At one point, Siddiqur Rahman was severely abused by the activists. A video has already gone viral on social media.
Last year on the evening of September 22, 2023, the New York Metropolitan Awami League organized a civic reception in the presence of the Prime Minister and the party president in the auditorium of Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York Manhattan. The US Awami League played the role of a silent spectator there. Although with some sit-in, the president of the party (expired committee) Dr. Siddiqur Rahman and General Secretary (expired committee) Abdus Samad Azad were able to sit on the dais far away from the Prime Minister’s seat. But he did not get any opportunity to preside over the meeting. In his presence, Fazlur Rahman, Vice-President (expired committee) of US Awami League presided over the Prime Minister’s civic reception meeting. The civic reception was conducted by the General Secretary of New York Metropolitan Awami League Imdadur Rahman Chowdhury Imdad and Bangladesh Awami League Ex. Publicity Secretary and Member of Parliament accused of corruption Md. Abdus Sobhan Mia (Golap). This was the second incident of his being defamed by activists.
The latest scandal of Siddiqur Rahman took place on April 27 at the meeting of California State Awami League. In the meeting, in front of the central leader and the office secretary of the party, Barrister Biplab Barua, Fazlur Rahman, the vice-president (expired committee) of the heroic freedom fighter United States Awami League, strongly protested all the unorganized and immoral activities of Siddiqur Rahman.
He said that although the US Awami League committee formed for a three-year period has exceeded 13 years, no new committee has been formed at all. Rather, in the last 13 years, US Awami League President Siddiqur Rahman has created division among the leaders and activists in all areas with numerous unorganized activities in the party. By breaking the name of the High Command, he authorized several committees in exchange for money in almost every state. Even today those committees have not received any recognition from the Central Committee.

Last year (2023) on May 1, supporters and activists of BNP attacked Awami League’s Joy Bangla rally in front of the World Bank in Washington DC. A few hours after the attack that day, he voluntarily prostrated himself on the ground and pretended to be seriously injured to gain mercy from the Prime Minister. The leaders of the party present complained that he played the victim very cleverly. He made a complaint against several BNP leaders and activists in the said incident, but there was no progress even after a year. He also had no further contact with Virginia police.
For the past one month, the committee signed by the president has been destroyed in the name of filling the party’s vacancy by breaking the president’s name. In exchange for money, he created various controversies and humor by appointing members of various organizations to important positions in an unorganized manner, leaving out the people of the main committee in the party.
Last Thursday (May 2) an exchange meeting was held with State Minister of Health Dr. Rokeya Sultana MP and Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, who is visiting the United States, at a restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York. Before the start of the meeting, Biplab Baruya was informed about all the activities of Siddiqur, the talkative president of the US Awami League. As a result, he added some conditions in the conduct of the meeting. As a result, none other than State Minister for Health Dr. Rokeya Sultana and Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua got a chance to speak. Although Siddiqur Rahman presided, Biplab Barua did not thank or recognize the members of the new members of the US Awami League, who were allegedly appointed by him. As a result, it became clear among the leaders and workers that he has been trading posts in the United States for a long time by breaking the name of the high command of the party.
Dr Siddiqur Rahman was contacted in this regard he said, that Fazlur Rahman is a pathologically illiterate and lying person. He is causing organizational damage to the party. I don’t want to say more than that.
