Staff Reporter: US President Joe Biden hosted an “Eid dinner” at the White House on Sunday night (May 16) to mark Eid al-Fitr. Various people including Muslim organizations have been invited there. But a US-based group of judges called American Muslims for Palestine called for a boycott of the dinner.
Biden’s continued support for Israel has angered Muslim groups. Apart from Biden’s dinner, the organization has organized another event called ‘Eid with the Palestinians’.
US President Joe Biden recently spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the time, the US president expressed strong support for Israel. At the same time, he called for an end to indiscriminate bombings in Gaza.
Earlier, in a telephone conversation with Netanyahu, he expressed support for Israel. Due to his position, various Muslim organizations have stated that they will not attend the White House dinner.
The group of judges said recent statements by President Biden, White House spokeswoman Jane Sackie and State Department spokeswoman Need Price included ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from East Jerusalem, Israeli aggression on hundreds of worshipers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan and attacks on Palestinians. Completely ignored.
“By uniting with our Palestinian brothers and sisters and uniting all Muslims around the world, we call on the Muslim community to boycott dinner at the White House,” they said.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu has announced that he will continue to attack the Gaza Strip. “Attacks on Gaza will continue as long as necessary and civilian casualties will be avoided as much as possible,” he said.
The Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip has been going on for seven days. On Sunday (May 16) morning, the Israeli forces also carried out air strikes. Four more Palestinians were killed. The attack has so far killed 149 Palestinians.
The Israeli missile strike in Gaza also destroyed the office of Qatar-based Al Jazeera. The building housed the offices of several other international media outlets, including the Associated Press (AP).
