Staff Reporter: Twenty-eight US senators have called for an immediate ceasefire to stop the Israeli offensive in Gaza. The senators, led by Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff, made the call in a joint statement.
Senator John Ossoff made the joint statement on his Twitter account. “We call for an immediate ceasefire in order to prevent further escalation of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territories and the loss of civilian lives,” they said in a joint statement.
Led by Georgia Sen. John Ossoff, the senators include Bernie Sanders, a veteran Democrat. From the beginning, he has demanded that Israel stop supporting Netanyahu’s government in its attacks on the Palestinians. Among the speakers are Barney from Vermont and Angus King from Maine. Everyone else is a senator from the ruling Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are underway at the international level to stop the conflict between the two sides. The international community is calling for a ceasefire. However, Netanyahu has already announced that the attack on Gaza will continue.
At least 219 Palestinians have been killed so far on the tenth day of the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Among the dead were about 100 women and children. About 1,500 Palestinians were injured in the attack. Israel has launched a series of rocket and air strikes on Gaza in the wake of clashes at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem. Several groups, including the Palestinian resistance group Hamasad, have retaliated by firing rockets.
