Staff Reporter : 56 legislative of US A has sent a letters to President Biden seeking Vice President Kamala Harris removal from the leadership role in controlling illegal immigration on the southern border of the United States.
In the letter, they requested the president to replace Kamala Harris, the vice president in charge of immigration control. The letter said members of the Republican House of Representatives were “seriously concerned” about Harris’ appointment to resolve the situation.
Biden has personally given Harris the task of controlling migrants crossing the border. Since his appointment, She has been criticized by high-profile GOPs and right-wing figures for not visiting the border.
The letter, signed by 56 lawmakers led by Glenn Growthman, GOP Representative of Wisconsin, cites recent figures released by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It said that in May 2021, they had encountered 1,80,034 people on the US-Mexico border. But in the same month of last year this number was only 23 thousand 277. Which is 75 percent more.
The letter said, “This figure does not include” Got Awais “or fugitives.
However, CBP officials estimate that an average of less than 200 migrants fled each day in the 2000 financial year. But now an average of one thousand a day is coming.
The last two decades have not seen such a border crisis. Yet Vice President Kamala Harris is still not showing enough interest in seeing the crisis.
He did not visit the border in the 85 days since the vice president was tasked with resolving the crisis. He also declined to meet with Border Patrol Agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and local law enforcement officials.
‘In our experience, it is important to meet with our officials to find out their perspectives and observations on the sources and inspirations of the thousands of people who come here every day.
This is an insult to our hardworking Border Patrol, ICE and local law enforcement officials. The vice president has not yet been able to talk to those who are putting their lives on the line every day – it is an insult to them. ‘
The letter was criticized for claiming that Harris was trying to stop illegal immigration by verifying the “root cause” of the immigration and had discussed the issue during his recent visit to Guatemala.
“You said at the time of his appointment that I could not think of anyone better qualified for the job,” the letter said, referring to Biden.
‘The country can’t get a minute more inactivity from Vice President Harris. Since you have publicly defended the Vice President; So you have to discourage his inaction.
“We all made mistakes when it came to hiring and we realized when someone else needed to be assigned a job. We sincerely request that you find someone else in your administration to assist you in dealing with this border crisis.
Meanwhile, Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz, a fierce critic of the Biden administration, has blamed Harris for not coming to the border since taking office in January.
However, Harris and his staff insist that their diplomatic work focuses on Mexico and Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. They are working on the issue. The Vice President will visit the border area at a convenient time.
