Aminul urges Shakib, Mashrafe to settle cases before comeback

Bangla Press Desk:   Newly appointed Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque on Wednesday said senior all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza would be welcomed back to competitive cricket if they clear their ongoing legal cases.

His remarks came a day after the Daily Sun reported on Tuesday that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had submitted documents related to Shakib’s legal matters to the government in an attempt to start the process of bringing him back to the country.

“Shakib and Mashrafe are legendary cricketers of Bangladesh. I have seen the immense love the people of Bangladesh have for them and their passion for the game,” Aminul said.

“They should come, face the cases against them, and if they are cleared of all charges and resolve everything properly, we would most welcome them back to the field,” he added.

The former national goalkeeper, however, stressed that the cases are matters of state and must proceed through due legal process.

“As a sportsperson, I believe they should address those legal issues personally through their lawyers, in accordance with the law,” he said.

Aminul made it clear that any return to cricket would depend entirely on the outcome of the legal proceedings.

“If they go through the legal process and are proven innocent, and if they return to the country to play on home soil, then from my position as a sportsman, I would certainly welcome them,” he added. Source: daily Sun
