AML and CFT awareness meeting held with Janata Bank Board
Bangla Press Desk: In the presence of representatives from the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), an awareness meeting titled “Awareness Program on AML and CFT for the Board of Directors” was held on 17/12/2025 with the Honorable Board of Directors of Janata Bank PLC.
The meeting emphasized the importance of preventing money laundering and terrorist financing in establishing sound corporate governance in banks, the bank’s accountability to regulatory authorities (BFIU and Bangladesh Bank), ethical banking practices, and related issues.
Two members of BFIU, Mr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, Additional Director, and Mr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Joint Director—provided a comprehensive understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) through a lively discussion during the session. In addition, from the bank’s side, specific action plans related to AML and CFT prevention were highlighted, and optimism was expressed regarding the strengthening of an effective and up-to-date AML compliance and prevention framework.
From Janata Bank PLC, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. M. Fazlur Rahman, CSP, along with other directors, the Managing Director, and other senior executives of the bank, were present at the awareness meeting.
