Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh badminton is entering a new chapter. For the first time in history, the country will take part in the Badminton World Cup qualifiers, a notable rise in international rankings. The event is scheduled to be held in Delhi from 17 to 23 August.
Leading the charge are the nation’s top doubles pair, Al Amin Jumar and Moajjam Hossain Ohidul, whose current world ranking of 118 in doubles has earned them this historic opportunity. While the players have completed their registration, details regarding the exact venue will be shared shortly.
National team coach Engineer Mir Sarwar Alam praised the pair’s recent performances. “They have consistently delivered strong results in international tournaments, including notable successes in Canada and Sri Lanka,” he said.
“Their performances in Dhaka, during international challenges and series, have also been very encouraging. Their improved doubles ranking has now paved the way for Bangladesh to compete on the World Cup stage for the first time.”
