Bangladesh beat Switzerland 5–2 in final practice match
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh U-21 hockey team wrapped up their World Cup preparations in style, defeating Switzerland 5–2 in their final practice match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai today.
Drag-and-flick specialist Amirul led the scoring with a brilliant brace, while Huzifa, Rocky, and Joy netted one goal each to secure a convincing victory for the young Tigresses.
The win comes just a day after Bangladesh beat Chile 3–0 in their first practice match, giving the team a perfect boost ahead of their maiden appearance at the U-21 Hockey World Cup.
Team manager and Bangladesh Hockey Federation General Secretary Lt Col (retd) Riazul Hasan said from India,
“After beating Chile yesterday, Bangladesh defeated Switzerland today. All four quarters were played in full. Our players are healthy, fit, and in good rhythm.”
Bangladesh have been placed in Group F of the 24-team global competition, alongside strong opponents Australia, South Korea, and France.
The tournament begins on 28 November, with Bangladesh opening their campaign on 29 November against Australia. They will face South Korea in their second match before taking on France in their final group-stage fixture.
With two commanding wins in as many practice matches, Bangladesh head into the World Cup with confidence and momentum.
