Bangladesh Champions join World Championship of Legends for Season 3

Bangla Press Desk:  The World Championship of Legends (WCL) has confirmed that a Bangladesh Champions side will feature in its third season, expanding the tournament’s lineup.

Bangladesh will join the tournament that features India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa.The competition has already attracted several of cricket’s most celebrated figures, such as Yuvraj Singh, AB de Villiers, Brett Lee, Mohammad Hafeez, and Chris Gayle, among other former stars.

Organisers said the inclusion of Bangladesh is expected to further raise the level of competition in the 2026 edition, with more high-profile contests on the international stage.

Marketed as the second most-watched cricket league globally, WCL has quickly established itself by bringing together retired greats from across the game.

The first two seasons drew significant audiences, with more than 325 million viewers tuning in to the inaugural edition and 423.1 million watching the second, underlining its growing global reach.

WCL founder and chief executive Harshit Tomar said the addition of a Bangladesh team responds to repeated calls from fans over the past two years.

Yunus Hasan, a director of JCUK Sports Ltd representing the Bangladesh Champions, described the move as a landmark moment for supporters at home and abroad, highlighting its role in strengthening connections within the cricket community.

“It's a great privilege to be part of Bangladesh Champions in the WCL. We feel that through taking part in this tournament Bangladesh’s cricket will reach a new height globally considering this tournament is considered as the World Cup of legend cricketers. We are hoping to form a formidable squad with all the legendary cricketers of Bangladesh for the tournament - Ishtiaque Sadeque, co-owner of the team.

Former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful and Mahmudullah have already agreed to be part of Bangladesh Champions while Sadeque added some other big names are expected to be added to bolster the strength of Bangladesh Champions.

With Bangladesh’s inclusion, the league will now feature teams representing seven cricketing nations, making the upcoming season its most diverse and competitive to date.Source: daily Sun
