Bangla Press Desk: Prominent figures within the Bangladesh cricket community have expressed profound shock and condemnation following the brutal murder of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter in Pallabi, Dhaka.
The victim, a second-grade student, was reportedly subjected to sexual assault and killed by a neighbour, identified as Sohel Rana—a crime that has sparked widespread public outrage.
Various national team players have opted for their verified social media platforms to grieve the loss and collectively call for swift, stringent legal action against the perpetrator.
Statements from national team leaders:
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Test Captain): Sharing an illustration of the victim, Shanto expressed his heartbreak and emphasised the necessity of a secure environment for the youth. He stated that society must ensure children can grow up safely and achieve their potential without fear, adding that the culprits must face punishments severe enough to serve as a definitive deterrent for potential future crimes.
Litton Kumar Das (T20I Captain): Speaking from the perspective of a parent, Litton described the incident as deeply unsettling and intolerable. He urged for immediate judicial intervention, emphasising that a safe environment is a fundamental right for all children. Litton demanded the harshest legal penalties to ensure such a tragedy is never repeated.
Mushfiqur Rahim (Veteran Wicketkeeper-Batter): Expressing deep anguish, Mushfiq noted that the victim deserved protection and care rather than such extreme cruelty. He demanded rapid and proper justice for the innocent child, stating that no family should endure such profound grief and that crimes against children warrant maximum legal consequences.
