Bangladesh head coach Cabrera heads back to Spain for vacation
Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh men’s national football team head coach Javier Cabrera has once again flown to Spain for a vacation, leaving Dhaka on Friday. His return date, however, is still unconfirmed. Cabrera came back to Dhaka with the team from Nepal on Thursday, only to head off the very next day. The Spanish tactician has long followed an unwritten routine of leaving for Spain almost immediately after completing assignments with the national side. Originally, Cabrera had planned to depart on 10 September, the day the team was supposed to return from Kathmandu. But unrest in Nepal delayed the squad’s journey home, forcing him to reschedule his flight. The players and coaching staff eventually landed in Dhaka on a special Bangladesh Air Force flight. Bangladesh had been scheduled to play two friendlies against Nepal earlier this month. The first, on 6 September, ended in a goalless draw, while the second was cancelled due to political unrest in Kathmandu.
Looking ahead, Bangladesh are set to face Hong Kong on 9 October, with a preparatory camp expected to begin in late September. Domestic competitions such as the Challenge Cup, League, and Federation Cup will be key for player evaluation, but Cabrera’s absence raises questions about how the team’s final selection process will be managed.
