Bangladesh Illegal Alien Charged With Unlawful Voting
Mohammad Hachibur Rahman
Noman Sabit: The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced, today, that it filed an information against an illegal alien for unlawful voting.
Mohammad Hachibur Rahman, 33, an illegal alien from Bangladesh, is charged by information with unlawful voting.
Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, announced the information with Special Agent in Charge Jimmy Paul, FBI Baltimore Field Office.
The information alleges that Rahman, knowing he was not a United States citizen, voted in the November 2024 election. The election was held in part for the purpose of selecting a candidate for president, vice president, or member of the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives.
An information is not a finding of guilt. Individuals charged by information are presumed innocent until proven guilty at a later criminal proceeding.
If convicted, Rahman faces a maximum sentence of one year in federal prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.
A federal district court judge determines sentencing after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
U.S. Attorney Hayes commended the FBI for its work in the investigation, along with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Washington Field Office – Baltimore Resident Office, for its valuable assistance. Ms. Hayes also thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip Motsay who is prosecuting the federal case.
