Bangladesh make early exit at World Archery Championship
Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh endured a disappointing start at the World Archery Championship in South Korea, with both the women’s compound team and men’s individual competitors bowing out in the early rounds. A total of eight Bangladeshi archers is participating in the tournament, competing across individual and compound events. However, the women’s compound team of Bonna Akter, Kulsum Akter Moni and Pushpita Zaman exited in the first knockout stage on Saturday. After finishing 17th in the qualification round, Bangladesh were paired against El Salvador in the 1/12 elimination stage. Despite a spirited performance, the trio fell short, scoring 228 out of 240, while their Central American opponents managed 232. El Salvador went on to upset hosts South Korea in the next round. Bangladesh’s struggles continued in the men’s compound individual event, where Himu Bachhar suffered a narrow defeat against Kazakhstan’s Andrey Tyutyun, losing 146–145.
Bangladeshi archers still have events ahead, with the women’s individual compound matches scheduled for Monday.
