Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh women's hockey team had put up a fight against Malaysia, even though they lost. Today, however, there was no sign of such a contest.
The outcome was inevitable; they suffered a heavy defeat against South Korea. Bangladesh lost 8-0 to their opponents in the Asian Games women's hockey tournament.
This marked Bangladesh's third consecutive defeat in the tournament.
This morning at Kawasaki Juko Stadium, Bangladesh was completely outclassed by South Korea. From the very beginning, the team was kept busy defending against the opponent's attacks but failed to keep their goal intact, conceding three goals in the first quarter alone.
While Choi Ji-yun scored in the 5th minute, Park Seung-ae netted a brace in the 12th and 15th minutes.
Park Seung-ae scored two more goals—one in the 23rd minute and the final one right at the death of the match. Between her goals, Choi Ji-yun scored another, while Park Mi-hyang and Kim Seon-a scored the remaining two.
Bangladesh conceded three goals in the second quarter as well, while South Korea scored one goal in each of the other two quarters. Overall, South Korea secured their third straight victory with an 8-0 scoreline.
Prior to this match against Korea, Bangladesh had made their Asian Games women's hockey debut with a 13-0 loss to China. Bangladesh has two remaining group-stage matches against Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei; the final match against Chinese Taipei is scheduled for September 27.
