Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh won the toss in the Test match against Afghanistan. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to bat first. Rahmat Shah is leading Afghanistan in a Test match for the first time.
Explaining the decision to bat first after winning the toss, Shanto said, "The pitch looks quite dry. The weather here is very hot. I feel batting will become a bit difficult for the batters in the second innings."
Regarding Bangladesh's recent Test performance and consistency, he said, "Yes, certainly; I think we are playing quite good cricket. However, as a team, we need to be consistent enough. This is another opportunity to showcase our skills. I hope the boys have prepared well over the last few days. We will play good cricket here."
Speaking on facing the Afghan spin attack, Shanto said, "We all know they are a very good team. They have some quality spinners as well. So, we have trained here just as we do back home. We have quality spinners too. We are quite happy with our preparation. Hopefully, we will play good cricket."
Sharing his observations on the pitch, he said, "The pitch looks dry. I think the ball will start turning on the second and third days. At that point, the pitch will become a bit slower than usual for this venue."
Regarding the bowling combination, Shanto stated, "We are playing with three spinners and two pacers."
