Bangladeshi footballers reach Kathmandu airport
Bangla Press Desk:   The Bangladesh football team has reached the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal on their way out of the unrest-hit country. The footballers are expected to board a special Dhaka-bound flight after 11:30am. The reporters accompanying the team would board the same flight. Flight operations resumed at the Tribhuvan airport on Wednesday night after over a 24-hour halt caused by arbitrary violence across the capital. The Bangladesh Football Federation, embassy in Kathmandu and interim government in Dhaka are working to bring back the Bangladesh football team at the earliest.
The team was expected to play a match with their Nepali counterparts on 9 September. However, the start of youth protests against corruption and a social media ban led to the cancellation of the match, and a suspension of airport activities. Amid heightened security concerns, the Bangladeshi lads have been forced to wait patiently at their hotel since 8 September. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
