Bashundhara Paper Mills wins ICMAB Best Corporate Award

Bangla Press Desk:    Bashundhara Paper Mills PLC has received an award for its annual reporting, corporate excellence, transparency in business, and responsible practices. 

The recognition was conferred by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) in acknowledgment of the company’s overall performance in 2024.

At the 15th ICMAB Best Corporate Award ceremony, held on Wednesday night at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital, Bashundhara Paper secured the Bronze Award in the Engineering and Other Manufacturing category.

The award was received on behalf of the company by Executive Director and Company Secretary M Mazedul Islam. 

After receiving the honour, he said, “Bashundhara Paper Mills is a model of good governance. That is why this recognition has been given. Receiving this award has further increased our responsibilities.”

This prestigious award recognises leadership, a strong corporate governance framework, consistent performance in the manufacturing sector, as well as overall accountability and sustainability across operations.

Speaking as the chief guest, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said good governance, accountability, and transparent corporate practices are the key drivers of sustainable economic growth. 

He added that ICMAB’s initiative would encourage corporate organisations to become more responsible and competitive.

ICMAB President Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said the award would further strengthen the role of organisations in ensuring corporate accountability and maintaining high-quality financial reporting.

A total of 48 organisations, including Sonali Bank PLC, BRAC Bank PLC, Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, IDLC Finance PLC (non-bank category), Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, and Grameenphone, received awards at the ceremony.

Also present at the event were National Board of Revenue Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, and Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Chairman Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan.
