BCB hikes women cricketers’ salary
Bangla Press Desk: In a landmark decision aimed at empowering women’s cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has approved a 35% salary hike for contracted women cricketers, effective immediately in the current fiscal year.
The announcement came from BCB Media Committee Chairman Amjad Hossain following a board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium office in Dhaka’s Mirpur on Monday (3 November).
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan shared the information in his verified Facebook account today.
The daily allowance for the women cricketers has been raised from US$50 to US$75, while the tour fee has doubled from US$25 to US$50, according to the board’s decision.
The board’s decision marks a decisive step toward recognising and rewarding the growing contribution of women athletes to Bangladesh cricket.
