BCB to continue workload monitoring for PONI players in BPL

Bangla Press Desk:   The Bangladesh Cricket Board will continue its workload management system for Players of National Interest (PONI) in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, BCB’s In-charge of Cricket Operations Shahriar Nafees has confirmed.

The system, introduced last season, will again see BCB-appointed support staff overseeing player workload throughout the tournament to safeguard national assets ahead of international commitments.

“We took this measure last year, and it will remain in place this year as well,” Nafees said.

He revealed that a BCB-appointed trainer will be present for the entire duration of the BPL, with a specific mandate to monitor the physical load of PONI players using GPS-based data.

“A trainer from the Bangladesh Cricket Board will cover the entire BPL. His responsibility will be workload management of the PONI players throughout the tournament through GPS,” Nafees explained. “If, through this workload management, any player is found to be in the red zone, that will be communicated to the respective franchise, stating that he is in the red zone and needs to be given rest.”

Nafees also stressed that the monitoring process will not operate in isolation, with constant coordination planned between national and franchise support staff.

“For the players of national team interest, we will manage their workload externally throughout the tournament,” he said.

“The Bangladesh national team’s physios and trainers will remain in constant coordination with the team trainers and physios regarding this matter.”
