BFF pivots to Vietnam friendly before Singapore clash
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh’s final preparations for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers have taken a strategic turn, with a FIFA international friendly against Vietnam now confirmed ahead of March’s final Group C fixture against Singapore.
The move marks a shift in the Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) strategy. Initial plans to host Cambodia or Timor-Leste in Sylhet have been shelved in favour of a trip to Vietnam on 26 March. Logistical convenience was the deciding factor, allowing the squad to acclimatise to the region before heading directly to Singapore.
BFF Vice President Fahad Karim confirmed the change: “Given the proximity to Singapore, playing in Vietnam is the logical choice. The team will hold a short camp in Dhaka before departing for the friendly, then travel immediately to Singapore.”
Bangladesh face Singapore in Kallang on 31 March.
Although qualification is now mathematically out of reach, the match remains vital for Group C standings. After six matches—including a memorable home win over India—Bangladesh are determined to finish the campaign strongly.
BFF is yet to officially announce the schedule and friendly match details.
