BSPA Sports Carnival to Begin Tuesday

Bangla Press Desk:  The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) is set to launch a two-week festival for sports journalists and writers, the 'Cute-BSPA Sports Carnival 2026', starting this Tuesday.

Sponsored by Mousumi Industries Limited's popular brand 'Cute', the details of the annual event were announced during a press conference on Sunday afternoon at the Bangladesh Olympic Association's Dutch-Bangla Auditorium. BSPA vice-president Talha Bin Nazrul, general secretary Sudipta Ahmed Ananda, sports sub-committee chairman Kazi Shahidul Alam, and sports and cultural secretary Raihan Uddin Russel shared the details with the media.Organisers confirmed that the formal inauguration will take place at 12:00pm on Tuesday at the 'Home of BSPA'. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, chairman of Mousumi Industries Limited and president of both World Archery Asia and the Bangladesh Archery Federation, will attend the opening ceremony alongside National Sports Council director of sports Zahid Parvez Chowdhury.

More than 100 BSPA members are expected to take part in the carnival. The competition will feature 12 events across eight disciplines: archery, carrom, table tennis, chess, swimming, athletics, card games, and shooting.

The carrom and table tennis competitions will include both singles and doubles events. Athletics will feature the 100-metre sprint and shot put, while the card games will consist of Callbridge and Twenty-nine.

All matches and events will be held at the Dhaka National Stadium Complex. The two-week festival is designed to give sports journalists a break from their demanding daily routines, offering them a chance to play sports and build camaraderie in a friendly, competitive environment.
