Chattogram camp returns as female footballers intensify Asian Cup preparations
Bangla Press Desk: The Bangladesh women’s national football team has returned to Chattogram for an intensive training camp as part of their build-up to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, set to be held in Australia next March. Head coach Peter James Butler arrived at the Korean EPZ in Chattogram on Tuesday morning with a 40-member squad, comprising players, coaching staff, and officials.
The team had previously trained at the same venue ahead of their away friendlies against Thailand. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials praised the high standards of facilities in Chattogram, including accommodation, meals, and training arrangements.
To ensure the best possible preparation for their Asian Cup campaign, BFF President Tabith Awal approved this second camp for captain Afeida Khandaker and her teammates. Unlike the first phase, which lasted 20 days from September 27 to October 16, this camp is planned to continue for around 15 days, with the team expected to return to Dhaka on either November 20 or 21.
Ahead of the Asian Cup, Bangladesh will also host a tri-nation women’s football tournament in Dhaka this month, featuring Azerbaijan and Malaysia. The tournament is scheduled to begin on November 26, with Bangladesh facing Malaysia in the opening match. Each team will play two matches against the others.
