China crush Bangladesh 4–0 to seal group A title
Bangla Press Desk: China showcased their dominance on home soil as they swept aside Bangladesh 4–0 in the decisive Group A match of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Chongqing on Sunday. the hosts rose to the occasion to secure their spot in next year’s main event in Saudi Arabia.
Bangladesh entered the match needing a victory to qualify and began with early intent. Rediuon pressed aggressively in the 12th minute, forcing an error from the Chinese goalkeeper and earning a corner — a moment that briefly lifted the young Tigers. They strung together a few well-built attacks but lacked the finishing touch in the final third.
China, however, quickly stamped their authority. Forward Shuai Weihao emerged as the star of the evening, netting two well-taken goals in the first half to place Bangladesh under immense pressure. His sharp movement and clinical execution highlighted the gulf between the sides.
The hosts resumed the second half with the same intensity. In the 53rd minute, Weihao completed his hat-trick with a precise header from a corner, effectively ending Bangladesh’s hopes. Despite conceding four, goalkeeper Alif delivered a commendable performance, making several crucial saves — including one just before the third goal and another strong stop in the 58th minute.
China sealed the win in the 88th minute through ZHAO SONGYUAN, adding the final flourish to a commanding display.
Bangladesh end their campaign with four wins and a loss, falling just short of qualification — but their spirited run and consistent performances have reignited belief in the nation’s youth football.
