China-South Asia Expo Wraps Up, Bangladesh Secures Six Awards

Bangla Press Desk: The 10th China–South Asia Expo and the 30th China Kunming Import and Export Fair 2026 concluded on Tuesday.

At the closing ceremony, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh was awarded the “Outstanding Exhibition Organizer” title.

On behalf of Export Promotion Bureau (Bangladesh), Director Mohammad Waresh Hossain and Deputy Director Md. Rafiqul Islam received the award. 

First Secretary (Commercial) Ridwanur Rahman from the Bangladesh Consulate in Kunming was also present during the ceremony.

Bangladesh secured a total of six awards in four categories this year. Three Bangladeshi organizations—Aarong, Sustainable Bangladesh, and Clay Image—were recognized as Best Exhibitors. Bangladesh also received awards for Best Pavilion and Best Booth Design.

Sun Ming, Deputy Director General of the Commerce Department of Yunnan Province, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and presented the awards.

Earlier, the fair was inaugurated on 11 June at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kunming, China. Bangladesh participated as the theme country. The inauguration was jointly led by Khondaker Abdul Muktaadir, Bangladesh’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, Textiles and Jute, and Wang Yubo, Governor of Yunnan Province.

Several senior Bangladeshi officials attended the event, including Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MPs Akhtar Hossain, Md. Khaled Hossain Mahbub, and Sultana Jesmin, along with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China Md. Nazmul Islam and EPB Vice Chairman and CEO Mohammad Hasan Arif.

During the side event titled “Big Market for All: Export to China,” EPB CEO Mohammad Hasan Arif delivered a keynote speech on Bangladesh’s trade and investment potential in China. A record 101 Bangladeshi companies with 175 representatives participated in this year’s expo, which hosted around 2,300 exhibitors from 68 countries. A dedicated “Bangladesh Day” was also observed during the fair.
