DBL Ceramics earns Grand Prix for TileChalk at MAD STARS

Bangla Press Desk: DBL Ceramics’ sustainability initiative TileChalk has won the Grand Prix in the SDGs category at MAD STARS 2026, alongside two Crystal Awards in PR and Brand Experience & Activation, marking another significant international milestone for the initiative from Bangladesh.

TileChalk addresses a challenge within ceramic manufacturing by transforming ceramic sludge generated during the production process into classroom chalk. The initiative turns an industrial by-product into a useful resource, bringing together waste reduction, circularity, education and community impact. The three MAD STARS recognitions add to TileChalk’s growing international track record. The initiative has previously received awards and recognition at ADFEST, The One Show, AdForum PHNX Awards and Spikes Asia.

The project’s journey has also demonstrated that sustainability can extend beyond the factory floor. By developing a practical use for ceramic waste and making the process open source, TileChalk seeks to encourage wider adoption of the idea and demonstrate how manufacturing waste can be reimagined as a resource.

Commenting on the achievement, Mohammad Bayazed Bashar, Chief Business Officer of DBL Ceramics, said: “We are grateful for every recognition TileChalk has received and these three awards at MAD STARS are an important milestone for us. But we believe recognition should encourage us to move forward, not stop here. There is still much more we can do to reduce waste and lessen our environmental impact. TileChalk has shown us that meaningful solutions can come from looking differently at the challenges within our own industry. Our responsibility now is to keep innovating, keep learning and continue working towards a more sustainable future.”

With its latest achievement at MAD STARS, TileChalk, the initiative developed by DBL Ceramics in collaboration with POP5, continues to demonstrate how a locally developed solution can address a global sustainability challenge, while reinforcing DBL Ceramics’ commitment to responsible manufacturing and environmental innovation.
