Domestic help allegedly tortured by ex-Biman MD handed over to father’s custody

Bangla Press Desk:   A child domestic help who was allegedly tortured at the house of former managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Shafiqur Rahman has been handed over to her father’s custody.

Judge Md Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan of the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 issued the custodial order after a hearing on Monday.Confirming the matter, lawyer Fahmida Akter from the One Stop Crisis Centre said the victim has been handed over to her father and will now stay with her family.

According to case documents, the child was employed as a domestic help at Shafiqur’s residence, where she was allegedly subjected to physical abuse over a long period. 

The victim’s family later filed a case with Uttara West Police Station in this regard.Source: daily Sun
