EC rolls out QR codes to curb fake journalist entry: Sanaullah
Bangla Press Desk: Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said on Wednesday that the commission is introducing a QR-code system to prevent the use of fake journalist IDs in the election.
He made this remark at the inauguration of a day-long training for journalists at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in Agargaon in the capital.
He urged journalists to play a pivotal role, stating that their work ensures transparency in elections, and the Election Commission will continue to support them fully.
He also outlined operational realities, such as managing voter flow efficiently, ensuring smooth polling processes, and using QR codes to prevent misuse of press credentials.
Sanaullah said, “A voter will need an average of 3 minutes and 52 seconds to cast a vote. There is no option to increase the number of polling centres.”
He added that this year’s election will be different from any in the country’s history, and that there is no alternative to the media in ensuring transparency.
At the same event, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed said that in the referendum, voters will not have the option to partially agree or disagree with any of the four questions — they must vote either ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
