Enjoy the taste of pithapuli at home in winter, know the recipe

Bangla Press Desk:   Winter is coming. And in this winter season, from the city to the village, there is a rush to eat pitha everywhere.

Especially in rural areas, pitha festivals are seen in every house. Every morning, in some house, you can see the rush to eat bhapa pitha, coconut pitha, patisapta, puli pitha and other popular pitha. Mothers and aunts easily make them at home.

Let's find out how to make pitha at home—

1. Bhapa pitha

Ingredients

2 cups of rice powder. 1/2 cup of finely ground date molasses. 1/2 cup of grated coconut. Salt as needed. After this, mix with a little hot water.

Method

Mix rice powder and salt together in a bowl. Then sprinkle a little hot water little by little and knead the rice powder with your hands so that there are no lumps. The rice powder will feel wet. Now sift it through a sieve to get a fine crumbly mixture. Then in a small bowl, first add a little rice powder mixture, spread some date molasses and grated coconut on it. Again, cover the molasses and coconut with the rice powder mixture. Press down lightly and fill the bowl. Now boil water in a pot and place a perforated lid on the pot.

Then carefully place the pitha bowl covered with a wet cotton cloth upside down on the lid of the pot and lift the bowl. Now cover the pitha with the cloth and steam for 3-5 minutes. When the pitha is done, remove it and serve it hot.

2. Chitai Pitha

Ingredients

Rice powder 2 cups. Salt 1 teaspoon. Hot water as needed.

Method

Mix rice powder and salt in a large bowl. Now mix hot water little by little to make a thin batter. The batter will not be too thick or too thin. Then heat an open clay or iron pan on the stove. When the pan is hot, you can brush it with a little oil. Now pour a ladle (sleeve) of batter into the pan and immediately cover it with a lid. Let the pitha cook for 3-4 minutes on medium heat. When the pitha swells and the sides feel dry, take it off. Serve the hot Chitai pitha with date juice or meat broth.

3. Patisapata pitha

Ingredients:

Rice powder as required. Sugar as required. Milk 1 liter. Coconut shell 1 cup. Semolina 2 tablespoons. Powdered milk 1/2 cup.

Method

First, thicken the milk by boiling it. Mix sugar and semolina well in it and make kheer.

Now, take the coconut shell off in the kheer. Again, mix rice powder with water to make a thin batter. Brush a pan with light oil and spread the batter. Now wrap the batter with kheer and serve.

4. Puli Pitha

Ingredients

Rice powder as required. Flour as required. Dates, jaggery, grated as required. Coconut husk as required.

Method

Mix rice powder and flour and mix well with warm water to make a dough. Then cut small pieces from the dough and roll them like bread. Wrap the jaggery and coconut husk well in the middle of the bread. Make a design or close the mouth normally. You can fry it with a little oil for decoration.

By following this recipe, you can easily enjoy the taste of winter pitha puli at home.
