Wisdom tooth pain: why does it happen,

Bangla Press Desk:  The total number of permanent teeth in the human jaw is 32, including wisdom teeth. However, only 28 teeth are functional—excluding wisdom teeth. Although each tooth has a specific function, wisdom teeth have no effective role. For this reason, they are often called passive organs. But the sad reality is that severe pain begins in many people's lives when these teeth erupt. Why do wisdom teeth hurt so much?

In many cases, there is a lack of space in the jaw or the wisdom teeth are not positioned properly. As a result, the tooth cannot break through the gums and come out completely.

Sometimes a part of the tooth comes out and gets stuck again. This—

> Food particles get stuck in the gap between the tooth and the gums

> Inflammation of the gums (inflammation) occurs

> Severe pain is felt

> Difficulty opening the mouth or yawning

If not treated on time, this infection can spread deep into the mouth and throat, which can be a serious risk. Therefore, if such symptoms occur, it is important to consult a dentist immediately.

What to do / What not to do

What to do

> If the wisdom tooth is infected due to eruption, antibiotics should be taken as advised by the doctor

> Painkillers are given as needed to reduce pain

> Gargle with warm water mixed with salt several times a day

> When the pain and infection subside, in many cases a small part of the surrounding gum is cut off, so that the tooth can erupt naturally

> If there is a positional defect in the tooth, then the best solution is to remove the wisdom tooth

What not to do

> Never go to a doctor or an unauthorized doctor to remove the tooth

> Do not leave the treatment incomplete just because the pain has subsided

> Do not self-medicate

If you ignore wisdom tooth pain, it can turn into a big problem. If you make the right decision at the beginning and seek help from a dentist on time, unnecessary pain and complications can be avoided. Pain is not tolerated - proper treatment is the solution.
