Four suggestions from the US Buetana to restore Buet's peace
Staff Reporter: The former students organiztion BUET Alumni of North America (BUETANA) has expressed deep concern over the current ongoing situation at BUET. As one of the main institutions of BUET Bangladesh, the main objective should be to bring back the supportive environment for education, the members of the organization think. BUETANA sent a petition to the Vice Chancellor calling for restoration of peaceful situation in the BUET campus. The letter signed by President Dr. Ahsan Chowdhury and Chairman Mujeeb Rahman of Buetana said that they are deeply concerned about the recent situation as former students of Buetana. "Unfortunately, this rapidly escalating situation is becoming detrimental to students, faculty and administration," Buetana's letter said. The letter condemned the current situation. It also requested the Vice Chancellor to take appropriate decisions to restore the learning environment. Buetana outlined four suggestions for improving the current situation in Buet. These are- 1. Restore a peaceful academic environment of learning complemented by the ever-evolving engineering knowledge and emotional intelligence immediately. 2. Continue to honor earlier decision of BUET authority that banned political activities on BUET campus. 3. Immediately appeal the High Court decision. 4. Start dialog with students to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, morality, and good citizenship within the campus. Buetana expressed hope that quick action under the leadership of the vice chancellor would bring BUET back to normalcy and preserve the reputation of the institution. BP/SM
