Gaurav and Tanvir lift men’s doubles title on home soil

Bangla Press Desk:   Bangladesh celebrated a historic moment in badminton as Gaurab Singha and Abdul Jahir Tanvir clinched the men’s doubles title at the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh International Series 2025. In an all-Bangladesh final held at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium, the duo defeated compatriots Mizanur Rahman and Rahatun Nayem in a thrilling three-set match, 21-19, 17-21, 22-20.

The match began with a fiercely contested first set, which Gaurab and Tanvir narrowly won 21-19. In the second set, Mizan and Nayem fought back strongly to take it 17-21, leveling the contest. The decider saw both pairs locked at 20-20 before Gaurab and Tanvir secured the final two points to claim the championship.

The winners were presented with trophies and medals by Habib Ullah Don, President of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, along with General Secretary Rasel Kabir Suman, DIG of Police and Joint Secretary Taputun Nasrin, and DIG (Special Branch) Md. Moniruzzaman. 

President Don announced that both Bangladeshi pairs in the men’s doubles final would receive special financial rewards in recognition of their achievement.

The tournament concluded with memorable performances across all categories, highlighted by Bangladesh’s home-grown triumph in men’s doubles, giving fans a historic and exhilarating finale on home soil.

In the other finals of the tournament, India’s Tanvi Reddy Andluri clinched the women’s singles title by defeating Malaysia’s Lim Zhi Shin in straight sets, 21-19, 21-9. 

In the men’s singles, Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Panarian emerged victorious over Malaysia’s Mohamad Haris Sufian Rushdan in a closely contested three-set match, 21-16, 14-21, 21-10. 

The women’s doubles crown went to Thailand’s Thitiwarada-Sarisa, who overcame Malaysia’s Gan Min Yee-Tan Zhing Hui 21-13, 17-21, 21-17, while in the mixed doubles, Malaysia’s Datu Anif Isaac and Clarissa San defeated compatriots Wee Yee Tern and Tan Zhing Hui in straight sets, 21-13, 21-15.
