Gold Price Rebounds in Evening After Morning Drop
Bangla Press Desk: Gold prices in the country were revised twice on Thursday, with rates first reduced in the morning and then increased again in the evening.
The latest price hike came after an increase in local refined gold prices, according to Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been increased by Tk2,158, setting the new rate at Tk2,42,495. The revised prices came into effect from 7pm on Thursday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. A notification signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin confirmed the matter.
Earlier in the day at 10am, BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158 per bhori. With four consecutive reductions, the price had fallen by Tk9,856 in total before being raised again within hours.
Under the latest revision, 21-carat gold per bhori has been increased by Tk2,041 to Tk2,31,472, while 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk1,750 to Tk1,98,405.
However, traditional gold has seen a decrease of Tk1,458 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk1,61,605.
On Thursday morning, BAJUS announced lower rates effective from 10am, reducing 22-carat gold to Tk2,40,337 per bhori and 21-carat gold to Tk2,29,431. Source: daily Sun
