Gold Prices Drop Significantly — New Bhori Rate Announced
Bangla Press Desk: Gold prices in Bangladesh have been reduced by Tk5,670 per bhori, with the price of 22-carat gold now set at Tk225,290, including VAT, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus).
In a statement issued on Wednesday (24 June), Bajus said it fixed the new prices following a decline in the prices of refined gold (tejabi gold) and silver in both the international and domestic markets.
The revised prices came into effect from 10pm.
Under the new pricing, 22-carat gold will sell at Tk225,290 per bhori (11.664 grams), while 21-carat gold has been set at Tk215,142 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold stands at Tk184,758 per bhori, while gold produced under the traditional method will sell at Tk150,932 per bhori.
Bajus also revised silver prices. Under the new rates, 22-carat silver will sell at Tk4,842 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk4,607, 18-carat silver at Tk3,966 and traditional silver at Tk2,974 per bhori.
The association said the listed gold prices include VAT and jewellers must not charge customers any additional VAT. However, labour charges will vary depending on the jewellery design.
Bajus added that the VAT policy for silver jewellery remains under review and it will announce a separate decision through a separate notice. Source: daily Sun
