Bangla Press Desk: The Indian women’s cricket team has been instructed not to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts during the toss or after the match in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
According to a senior source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the directive is in line with the policy already in place for the men’s side.
“The BCCI is aligned with the government, and there will be no customary handshake at the toss, no photo opportunity with the match referee, and no end-of-game handshakes. The policy that applies to the men’s team will also apply to the women’s team,” the Indian media reported, citing the source.
India-Pakistan cricketing ties remain at their lowest point, and the matter has become even more sensitive following an incident at the men’s Asia Cup. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav recently declined to accept the winner’s trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as a minister in the Pakistani government and is the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
