Iran might have to be destroyed; you will find out soon: Trump
BanglaPress Desk: US President Donald Trump has hinted at intensifying military operations against Iran. He stated that, if necessary, the "rest" of Iran might also need to be destroyed, adding that more information on this would be available soon.
Trump made these remarks while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office at the White House on Thursday.
"Now we have to decide: do we move further ahead, or do we bring about a final resolution? By a final resolution, I mean ensuring that such a situation never arises again," Trump said.
Regarding the potential destruction of the remainder of Iran, the US President remarked, "If possible, I would prefer not to destroy the rest of the country. But I might have to. You will find out about this very soon."
The United States and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran in February of this year; however, no definitive agreement has been reached between the two sides. Trump estimates that it could take at least 25 years for Iran to recover from the damage caused by the conflict and rebuild itself.
Meanwhile, reporters questioned Trump about reports that Tehran had sent a proposal to the United States—via intermediaries—concerning the future of its nuclear program.
When asked whether any negotiations were underway between the US and Iran, Trump replied, "They cannot do anything without our approval."
