Jamaat Ameer to defend the government in parliament after the long march: Abdul Quader
Bangla Press Desk : Abdul Quader, a former coordinator of the anti-discrimination movement, stated that a pedestrian was killed in a bus accident during Jamaat’s 'long march' today. Several of their own activists and leaders also sustained serious injuries. I also saw reports in the media regarding the public suffering caused by the long march, which brought traffic to a standstill.
He shared these remarks in a post on his Facebook profile late Saturday night (October 31).
In his post, Abdul Quader wrote, "I noticed that many participants, as a tactical move, kept changing their *panjabis* (traditional tunics) during the march, and some even resorted to wearing helmets. Is all this maneuvering, public hardship, and loss of life truly necessary? After all, once the 'long march' concludes, the *Amir-e-Jamaat* (head of Jamaat) will likely stand in Parliament and defend the government!"
He added that if Jamaat wishes to engage with its grassroots-level members—perhaps in the wake of the recent election or in preparation for upcoming local elections—they could organize different programs under a different name or banner. This approach would avoid trivializing the 'long march'—a significant political undertaking—while also preventing public inconvenience and the loss of human life.
He further noted that while they might face some complications regarding their ongoing negotiations with the government, they could easily compensate for that by holding a protest demonstration in Dhaka on a holiday.
