Joty laments men’s World Cup absence, calls for future focus

Bangla Press Desk:   Bangladesh women’s cricket team captain Nigar Sultana Joty admitted that missing out on the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 was deeply disappointing for the players, describing the experience as emotionally difficult but urging the team to move forward.

“Definitely, playing in a World Cup is a very big deal for any player,” Joty said. “When that doesn’t happen, there are many reasons behind it, and it’s probably best not to discuss them right now.”

The wicketkeeper-batter acknowledged the emotional impact the situation had on the squad, saying the disappointment was widely shared among the players.

“It was certainly disappointing. As a player, I felt bad, and I believe many others in the team felt the same way,” she added.

However, the skipper also stressed the importance of accepting reality and shifting focus toward future goals.

“We have to accept the situation as it is. Now, I believe our focus should be on the future,” she concluded.Source: daily Sun
