Bangla Press Desk: Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud Pilot has been elected to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as one of 23 directors chosen in Monday’s board elections held in Dhaka.

A total of 156 votes were eligible in the BCB election, of which 115 votes were cast, marking a voter turnout of 73.71 per cent.

This high participation rate reflects strong engagement from the electorate across all categories, including district representatives, Dhaka clubs, and the former players’ quota.

Mashud, who led Bangladesh during the early years of its Test journey, secured 35 votes to win from the category reserved for former cricketers, government, and autonomous bodies (Category 3).

According to the returning officer, Dr Sheikh Jubayed Hasan, 23 directors were elected from three categories as per the BCB constitution — 10 from district and division representatives, 12 from Dhaka clubs, and one from the former players’ category.

Category 1: District and Divisional Quota – 10 directors elected:

Dhaka Division: Aminul Islam (15 votes), Nazmul Abedeen Fahim (15)

Chattogram Division: Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury, Asif Akbar

Khulna Division: Abdur Razzak, Zulfiqar Ali Khan

Rajshahi Division: Mokhlesur Rahman (7)

Rangpur Division: Hasanuzzaman (7)

Sylhet Division: Rahat Shams

Barishal Division: Sakhawat Hossain

Category 2: Dhaka Clubs Quota – 12 directors elected:
Ishtiaque Sadeque (42), Shanian Taneem Naveen (42), Faruque Ahmed (42), Amjad Hossain (41), Mehrab Alam Chowdhury (41), Moksedul Kamal (41), Adnan Rahman Dipon (40), Faizur Rahman (40), Abul Bashar Shiplu (40), Manjurul Alam (39), Nazmul Islam (34), Iftikhar Rahman Mithu (34).

Category 3: Former Cricketers/Government & Autonomous Bodies Quota –
Khaled Mashud Pilot (35).

“I am honoured to be elected as a BCB director. I have always wanted to serve cricket from an administrative point of view, and I hope to do it to the best of my ability,” said Shanian Taneem Naveen. Ishtiaque Sadeque and Mehrab Alam Chowdhury expressed similar sentiments.

From the National Sports Council quota, M Isfak Ahsan and Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashiq were also elected.

The newly elected 23-member board will soon meet to choose the next BCB president, who will lead the board for the next four years.
