Marufa, Rabeya go unsold at WPL auction; Shorna yet to be called

Bangla Press Desk:   Marufa Akter and Rabeya Khan went unsold at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) player auction held on Thursday, 27 November, in New Delhi, while Shorna Akter had not yet been called when this report was filed.

Marufa, who impressed during the most recent Women’s ODI World Cup with six wickets in six matches, was widely expected to attract attention from multiple teams. Yet none of the franchises placed a bid for her at the base price of INR 30 lakh.

All-rounder Rabeya Khan met the same fate, with no team opting to secure her services during the bidding.

The third Bangladeshi in the auction, Shorna Akter, remained uncapped at the time of reporting. Although her name is listed among the auctioned players, she has not yet been called to the floor.
