Mushfiq, Litton, and Mominul take a big leap in Test rankings
Bangla Press Desk: After scoring a historic century in the second Test against Ireland, Mushfiqur Rahim has taken a significant jump in the batting rankings. Additionally, Litton Kumar Das and Mominul Haque have also seen improvements.
ICC has released the weekly update of men's cricket rankings on Wednesday. Jumping 7 spots in the batting rankings, Mushfiq has now risen to number 30. He scored 106 runs in the first innings of his 100th Test at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. The veteran batsman is the 11th batter to score a century in his career's 100th Test. Later, he remained unbeaten on 53 runs in the second innings. The former test skipper is only the second batter in the world to score a century and a fifty in the two innings of a 100th Test. Previously, this feat belonged only to Ricky Ponting.
In the same match, Litton advanced 8 steps after scoring 128 runs in the first innings. With 596 rating points, this wicketkeeper-batter is now at number 37.
Mominul, who got out scoring 63 and 87 runs in the two innings, also advanced 8 steps. He is now at number 46. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto slipped 7 steps; his position is now 41st. Additionally, Shadman Islam moved up one step to number 54.
In the bowlers' list, Taijul Islam moved up 4 spots. The left-arm spinner is now at number 15 with 691 rating points. Besides, Mehidy Hasan Miraz remains unchanged at number 25.
The biggest leap was made by Hasan Murad. The left-arm spinner, who made his debut with this series, moved up 40 spots to reach number 52. Taksin Ahmed stepped down from 53 to 55 with 385 points.
Overall, former England captain Joe Root is at the top of the Test batters' rankings. Jasprit Bumrah is at the top of the bowling rankings.
In the all-rounders' rankings, Miraz slipped one step to number 3; Ben Stokes got the second spot. Ravindra Jadeja is at the top of this list.
