New Zealand pacer ruled out of India series.
Bangla Press Desk: O'Rourke's series ends before it even begins; the New Zealand pacer has been ruled out of the series against India due to injury.
He has not yet recovered from injuries to his left hamstring and calf.
New Zealand Cricket has decided to rest O'Rourke rather than take any risks. He was scheduled to play in the ODI and Test series against India. The New Zealand team management is now hoping to have him available for the four-Test series in Australia this December.
The first Test is set to begin in Perth on December 9.
Regarding O'Rourke's injury, New Zealand coach Rob Walter said, "It is disappointing to miss out on having O'Rourke available for such an important home series against a team like India. However, after discussions, we agreed that he needs more time to recover from his two injuries."O'Rourke sustained a back injury in April 2025.
He missed out on playing international cricket at home last summer due to a stress fracture. The 25-year-old pacer returned to action after seven months in the ODI series against Bangladesh. He subsequently played in the three-Test series against England in June but suffered a hamstring injury on the final day of the last Test in Nottingham. Later, in late August, he sustained a calf injury during training.
New Zealand is set to begin a bilateral series against India featuring five T20Is; however, O'Rourke was not included in the squad for the shortest format, which begins on October 22. Meanwhile, the five-match ODI series starts on November 1, followed by the two-Test series beginning on November 19.
