Plane crashes near Trump’s residence; all on board killed
Bangla Press Desk: Nine people have been killed after a business jet crashed in Florida, USA. In a post on the social media platform X on Sunday (November 2), U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy described the incident as a "horrific tragedy," confirming that everyone on board the aircraft perished. This is according to a report by Al Jazeera.
Duffy stated that officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are heading to the scene to assist the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in their investigation of the crash.
According to the final moments of cockpit audio recorded on LiveATC.net, the pilot mentioned an issue with ice accumulation, describing it as "controllable." Shortly thereafter, however, the aircraft began to lose altitude rapidly. The crew could then be heard in a state of panic, exclaiming, "We are going into the ground!"
The aircraft, a popular "Learjet 60" model, was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas. Authorities at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport confirmed that it was a privately owned jet, though no information regarding the identities of those on board has been released.
Footage of the crash circulating online shows the aircraft striking the ground at high speed and a steep angle, followed immediately by a massive explosion.
Images from the scene show fires burning amidst the wreckage and scattered debris on the asphalt, with onlookers gathering nearby.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis informed reporters that although the jet crashed in a residential area, there were no casualties on the ground. Describing the incident as "catastrophic," DeSantis added, "The plane appeared to come down just like a missile." ‘It has created a large hole by the side of the road.’
Notably, the area in Florida where the aircraft crashed is only 14.48 kilometers (9 miles) away from Mar-a-Lago, the private estate of U.S. President Donald Trump.
