PM Calls for Uninterrupted Freight Movement Through All Ports

Bangla Press Desk:   Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given instructions to ensure that import-export-related activities can continue 24/7 at all the ports of the country, said his Adviser and Spokesperson Mahdi Amin at a briefing on Saturday.

All the government department have been asked to work towards this end, and the required mechanism will be launched soon, Mahdi Amin told reporters at the briefing held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Tejgaon in the capital.

Round-the-clock freight operations would reduce merchandise unloading and transportation time, cut business costs and improve the country’s competitiveness at the international market, the PM’s adviser added.

Earlier at noon, a business delegation raised the proposal in a meeting with PM Tarique. The business leaders sought 24/7 processing of merchandise at the Chattogram seaport and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
