The Permanent Missions of Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Jordan, Lithuania and New Zealand to the United Nations along with the United Nations and the UNESCO are going to organize a virtual event to observe the “International Mother Language Day (IMLD)” on 22 February 2021 at 12:00pm-1:30pm. The theme of this year’s IMLD edition is “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society”. The importance of promotion and preservation of linguistic and cultural iversities as a means of education and communications have become more urgent now than ever. The event will be an occasion to discuss how to uphold the inalienable right of people to their mother languages and promote multilingualism globally.
