Rahmatganj snatch late win over PWD in thrilling BFL clash
Bangla Press Desk: Rahmatganj secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over PWD Sports Club in the third round of the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) on Tuesday at Bir. FL. LT. Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj. Although the match ended in the afternoon, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officially confirmed the result only at 8 PM.
From the first whistle, Rahmatganj displayed organized and attacking football. Their efforts paid off in the 20th minute when Ghanaian midfielder Adu Clement opened the scoring, giving his side an early lead.
PWD Sports Club fought back after the break, equalizing in the 69th minute through a well-timed strike by defender Rostam Islam Dukhu Mia, setting up a tense finale. But Rahmatganj’s persistence bore fruit in the 89th minute as forward Mehedi Hasan Royal scored the decisive goal, securing a dramatic win.
With this result, Rahmatganj climb to the top of the points table alongside Bashundhara Kings, both teams boasting seven points from three matches, each with two wins and a draw.
The fourth round of the league is set to begin on Friday, promising more exciting encounters in the Bangladesh Football League.
