Red ball makes an appearance in Tigers’ T20 batting camp
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon were seen training with a red ball on the centre wicket of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday afternoon, under the supervision of head coach Phil Simmons and senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin.
The session was part of the week-long batting camp arranged for players likely to feature in Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup squad.
The left-handed pair, both now established figures in Bangladesh’s white-ball set-up, worked specifically on their game against spin. Their drills focused on low-risk batting, playing along the ground, rotating the strike, and selectively freeing their arms through the off side.
The appearance of the red ball raised curiosity, given that the players are preparing for a packed white-ball calendar, including the BPL and the T20 World Cup early next year.
“We all know the red ball turns more. So we wanted to practise against turning deliveries, which will help us later when facing the spinning white ball,” one of the batters said after the session.
The batting camp runs until 13 December, after which Simmons is expected to take a brief leave before returning to lead preparations for upcoming national assignments.
